Dr. Lauren Hallion and the Mechanisms of Anxiety Lab

Welcome to the Mechanisms of Anxiety lab in the Department of Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh!

We study the relationship between anxiety, worry, and cognitive processes such as attention in emotional disorders.  We investigate these questions using a wide range of methods, including approaches grounded in  experimental psychopathology, clinical and cognitive science, and functional neuroimaging (fMRI) .  Our goal is to understand the cognitive and neural mechanisms of worry,  anxiety, and related problems, how these processes go awry for people with emotional disorders. Ultimately we aim to leverage our improved understanding of cognition-emotion interactions to develop more efficient and effective treatments.
